For the better part of the last five years Fame Jeans relied on internal resources to satisfy all their internal IT needs. Not apparent at first that there were any major issues with the IT set-up, Management, in any case, decided to question its current infrastructure and related costs/paybacks when it got to the point whereby Fame’s Exchange Server was blacklisted for sending spam. Since Momentis Systems was Fame’s ERP software provider with its own separate IT division, it seemed like a natural decision to have Momentis evaluate Fame’s current status and propose a solution.

Raffi Simci, IT Director of Momentis, did a thorough analysis and submitted a detailed report of Fame’s then present IT situation. With the help of his team, he was able to detect many inadequacies within Fame’s IT structure rendering it outdated and vulnerable. Amongst some of the inherent problems related to out-dated anti-virus software (more than 30% of Fame’s computers and servers were infected with viruses), a non-existent back-up system in place, a lack of documentation with regards to policies/procedure (i.e. passwords), firewall configuration, insufficient electrical connectivity, and poor server set-up.

The Momentis IT team was able to come up with a list of IT requirements for Fame to implement with an associated budget and action plan to bring it up to par. Looking to improve its antiquated IT infrastructure and improve overall efficiencies, Fame’s Vice President Finance and Operations Eileen Walfish accepted Momentis’ proposal and the company is already reaping the benefits of having one IT company manage all its IT needs.
